“GENERAL OBJECTIVES"
The general aim is to create a unique, vital, sustainable
and challenging new development at the NQC, which will
have a character of its own and feature a special quality
in its urban environment, building, landscape design and
service concept. One of the most important objectives
is to foster a distinctive quality and image for the NQC
which will render it attractive to all sources of investment.
"BASIC CONCEPT"
The basic concept has been determined by the characteristics
of the landform, access situation and the existing land
uses. It attempts to integrate the various aspects of
urban, landscape and transport planning into a balanced
planning solution that makes best use of the potentials
the site offers.
| - |
Physically,
the urban form is marked by densely built-up urban
clusters set in a park-like environment which will
provide the basic order in the new quarter, and
a new urban entity that positively relates the territories
Lugano Porza, Canobbio and Pregassona together.
The new entry axis or gateway to the city of Lugano
along which the clusters are strung out, acts as
the backbone of the new quarter.
|
| - |
Functionally,
the idea is to develop a type of peripheral CBD
in the north of the city where the flat valley provides
the natural terrain for city epansion, and in a
manner that will exploit the future accessibility
of Cornaredo by car and bus. It will include a broad
variety of commercial and service functions, shopping
and catering, hotels as well as more entertainment,
leisure and sports facilities.
|
| - |
Aesthetically,
we envision a distinct urban form in the valley
enveloped by green areas reminiscent of the historic
Trevano Park, exploiting the diverse landscape scenery
of river, hillside, landscaped roadways and creating
an interesting sequence of urban open spaces.” |
